I’ve seen enough to qualify as an anthropologist.
After spending two decades moving between agencies and corporates, across countries and way too many time zones, I’ve realized something: no matter where you go, the politics are the same, they just wear different suits.
The titles change: manager, lead, director, head, VP, whatever.
The meetings sound fancier, the slides get shinier, but the script never changes.
Someone will always say “We need alignment.”
Someone else will nod thoughtfully without understanding a thing.
And the real work will quietly fall to the same three competent people who will never get the credit.
I’ve seen the ones who rise because they shine, and the ones who rise because they reflect someone else’s shine.
I’ve seen managers who couldn’t manage a Google Doc, and leaders who could move mountains but never got promoted because they didn’t know how to perform humility at the right volume.
So, consider this next season my little Corporate Field Notes – a survival diary from the global workplace.
No HR filter.
No motivational bullshit.
Just the truth as it happens: messy, political, and painfully familiar.
