Ever notice how some companies “hire” the same role every few months?
Same title.
Same copy.
Same “We’re growing fast.”
Sometimes they don’t even bother fixing the typo from last time.
Let’s be honest:
half of these roles are already filled.
The other half were never really open.
They exist for optics, not opportunity.
Sometimes it’s internal promotion theatre:
“We already picked someone inside, but the C-level needs to make it look democratic.”
And sometimes, it’s just to make HR look busy.
Because nothing says “strategic talent acquisition” like posting the same job six times a year to show the boss you’re hustling.
You know the script:
The post goes up.
People spend hours crafting the perfect CV and cover letter.
HR schedules “screenings” for a position that’s already closed.
Then… there is no then. It’s dead silence.
Or the legendary line:
“After careful consideration…”
Careful of what? Copy-pasting the same JD for the twelfth time … or setting up the auto-reply rejection email?
Recruiters will say, “We’re building a talent pool.”
Translation: “We want your free labor in the form of emotional investment.”
Meanwhile, the job reappears three months later.
Again. And again. And again — like a headless loop nobody remembered to turn off.
Maybe it’s time we stop calling this “hiring.”
It’s not recruitment. It’s performance art.
