The Interview Process That Never Ends (a.k.a. “Are we hiring, or dating?”)
You apply. You wait.
You finally get that email: “We’d love to invite you for a quick chat.”
If you are lucky enough you get to ENJOY the full set:
Round 1: HR.
Round 2: The hiring Manager.
Round 3: The Director.
Round 4: The VP.
Round 5: The “culture fit” panel – basically a group zoom call where you pretend to care about everyone’s favorite coffee order.
Then comes Round 6: the “presentation task.”
You spend three days building a free strategy deck worth a consultant’s monthly fee.
They smile, nod, and say, “This is exactly what we’re looking for.”
Then ghost you.
Two weeks later, the job gets reposted.
Same title. Same copy. Same typo in the headline.
Sometimes I think they’re not hiring, they’re just doing team therapy
Or maybe just stealing my ideas.
It’s wild how companies preach “efficiency” yet run hiring processes longer than Netflix seasons.
And when you ask for feedback?
“We’ve decided to move forward with other candidates.”
Translation: “We actually have no idea what we’re doing.”
At this point, I’m not sure if I’m interviewing for a job or auditioning for a relationship.
Because honestly, both end with:
“It’s not you, it’s us.” 🙃
